“What Do I Do Now” The Powerful, Yet Heartbreaking New Single from Brenna Bone

Brenna Bone is more than a pretty face. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak with her about music and, more importantly, about who she is as a person. What I found out is that there is quite a bit of depth to Brenna. She carries wisdom with her of someone three times her age. She is soft and caring. At the same time, Brenna knows where she stands in the world and is not scared to draw a hard line for her values. Knowing this, “What Do I Do Know?”, her latest single was not a surprise. Brenna stuck to her formula for great songwriting that I have come to expect. The big kicker was how hard this single hit me two-fold.

As you get older, that mound of school friends dwindles to less than a handful of people. They are the people, good or bad, will always have your back. These friendships happen so gradually that you may not recognize their importance. Sometimes a loss is what puts that friendship in perspective. This very thing happened to me when a car accident took  My friend Ryan Rimmer from this world. There was no single event that I can point to show his impact on my life. It was all the little things Ryan did. It was the corny jokes, philosophical arguments, and what felt like waking him from a coma every morning while we were Florida FFA State Officers. It just took a few seconds for all of that to stop. It was the first time in my life I felt broken. “What Do I Do Now” pulled difficult emotions out of me.

The second part I want to get to is about Brenna Bone herself. Still to this day, she was one of my favorite interviews. I made a point to bring up her looks in the beginning. I did that because some of you will stop there. You might follow her on your socials and give a quick like, and go on about your day. I will even admit my expectations were low. After a few words, Brenna set the bar high. She has a strong work ethic, compassionate, and a damn good songwriter. “What Do I Do Now?” is a prime example of these qualities. Her looks are only a pixel in a huge portrait. I challenge you to take a step back and look at the whole painting of Brenna Bone.
