The Luncheonette
A quick bite with the hottest new artist!
Raquel de Souza reminds us success takes time with her new single and music video “Takes Time”
Here at Southern Fellow, a few things set us apart from the plethora of music websites you will find on the web. The casual internet browser may notice we create recipes around artists, but if you take a second look, you will realize our roots run much deeper than that. We are a family. A diverse collection of artists, music lovers, and foodies. As singular as Southern Fellow sounds, there are so many faces behind that name. Today we are here to celebrate one of those faces, her latest single, and her music video premiere for her latest single, “Takes Time”.
Raquel de Souza is the lead singer to Raquel and the Wildflowers. She and the band are still going strong, but she recently started her solo career. I can’t tell you the exact day that Raquel met. Online meetings seem far from personal, but the feeling of how organic it was has yet to escape me. Our friendship was instantaneous and continues to grow to this day.
I often reflect on my relationships. While working on this review for “Takes Time,” Raquel has been front and center. I don’t know if she has a diary, but her latest single feels like she ripped a couple of pages from it and put it to music. “Takes Time” encompasses everything I know about Raquel. At first, I thought she was using her youth as a reason to approach life and her music career haphazardly. It took a minute for me to realize how Raquel made choices. It was nowhere near as casual as I first thought. She accepts the fact that she is going to fail more times than not. Understanding failure is a possibility and taking it head-on helps Raquel reduce the fear of making choices. This thinking opens her up to more opportunities and a greater ability to self examine. Don’t give up! Overcoming one’s failures takes time. The reward is worth the patience it takes to get there.
“Takes Time” is a song many can relate to, and I highly recommend checking out the video. Also, make sure to add it to your favorite playlist. All the links you need are down below. Keep your eyes out for Raquel de Souza. She is going to do some amazing things. It’s a privilege to be along for the ride.
