Kurt Stevens Brings On Summer with His Latest Single “Sunshine State of Mind”

Sometimes I hate going to the beach; if it’s just me, it’s a breeze. Add some family or even certain friends to the equation, and things can go downhill in a hurry. I love my family. It’s what has to be packed up and taken with us that is the problem. My sister packs enough food in a cooler she could open up a buffet. Not to mention all the toys, chairs, tents, towels, and a plethora of other items needed to survive a day in the sun and sand. The crazy part is that we head to our condo most days, which provides many of the things we bring with us. To cool down my frustration, I turn to music. My go-to song is “A Pirate Looks at Forty” by Jimmy Buffet, but today Kurt Stevens may have given me a reason to look forward to that next beach trip and summer in general. His latest single, “Sunshine State of Mind,” has the waves washing the stress away.

Kurt is no stranger to coastal living, and his music reflects that. I have always liked his music, and it’s one of the big reasons we featured him on our Feed the Band series. There is a lot to like when it comes to Kurt Stevens.  “Sunshine State of Mind” is by no means a departure from his previous music, but I have to say his latest single is his best song yet.

What would you want for a summer beach song? If I had to guess, it would be simple yet catchy lyrics with a melody that won’t rattle your teeth out or put you to sleep. Kurt checks all of these boxes and more. “Sunshine State of Mind” has you feeling the sun on your skin and the sand between your toes no matter where you are. It’s easy to sing along with and lets you know summer has arrived.
