Our Interview With

Shari Rowe

We really can not call Feed the Band a new project. We have had quite a few music artist featured here at Southern Fellow. We have put in plenty of hours and burned the midnight oil more times than I can count. However, with all the work we have put in, it still does not compare to the support given by you to make Feed the Band possible. We have had over 10,000 people reading interview, following us on social media and cooking up a storm. It is an amazing journey that we are on and you are an active participant. It does not matter how high we may fly, we will still be humble and have our roots firmly planted in the ground.

This is the reason we brought Shari Rowe into the Southern Fellow family. We have been going back and forth for a couple of months now. However it was clear after our first conversation that she shares the same values we cling to here at Southern Fellow. Shari Rowe came from humble beginnings. This is reflected in her hit song “Family Gathering”.

This song reflects on the stories that a family shares when they are together. In our family, we all meet at my grandparents once a month to celebrate all the birthdays for that month. Shari Rowe’s family meets around a campfire to share a few stories and music. If you listen to any of her songs they reflect the small everyday things. Her lyrics relate to life and how the small things can lead to bigger things. Shari Rowe is the perfect example of this. She took her humble beginnings and turned them into powerful lyrics that people connect to. That is the magic of Shari Rowe.

Shari took some time to answer a few questions. We thank her for all she brings to the Southern Fellow family. Also at the bottom we will be giving away a couple autographed EPs. Let’s get to the interview.

Connect with Shari Rowe

I understand you live in Arizona. Do you have plans to move to Nashville?

My husband and I have plans to get a place in Nashville, and I’m pretty excited about that! We’re there often these days. I’d like to have a home in Arizona and TN. I’ve had the chance to cowrite more and more with Nashville songwriters and it’s definitely made me a better writer.

You have some songs under your belt and have been on the road. What advice would you give your past self?

I would say relax, and let your true self show. That’s when you’re at your best.

What is your favorite snack food?

Dubliner cheese and crackers or chips and salsa

What is your biggest fear?

Being misunderstood

We are always developing recipes here at Southern Fellow. When writing music what recipe do you use?

Inspiration, honesty, and time

If I gave you $5 to spend at a local Dollar Store, what would you buy?

Greeting cards, holiday decorations and candy

What is your first fond memory of food?

My mom always cooked when I was growing up. I could smell baked chicken from down the street while playing outside. At dusk, the smell of Arizona orange blossoms mixed with the smell of her cooking meant it was time to go home for dinner.

If Southern Fellow could develop a recipe for you, what would it be?

My heritage is European, and I grew up in the Southwest, so if there’s way to combine the flavors of Poland with Mexican food, bring it on!

Try this inspired recipe!

If you wrote a song about food, what would it be about?

I mention food in a couple of songs I’ve written, and I think it’s more about the connection between food and memories. What we’re eating while doing life leaves a big impression on us.

What does 2020 – 2021 look like for Shari Rowe?

This coming year is full of questions for all of us, as we face the “new normal”. I miss the crowds. I miss my band. All of it. We’ve got lots of new music ready for release, and as soon as we’re to play that music live for fans, we’ll be back at it! So many shows/venues are just waiting for new dates on rescheduled events!

Tell us about your new song “The Heavy”.

My co-writers and I could’ve never imagined what we’d all be facing now, when we wrote this song a year ago. Pain and heaviness are universal. We understand, more than ever before, how much we need one another. We’re all looking for hope; looking for a lifeline, or even just a smile. Our faith, our words, and our actions have a greater impact than we realize. Let it be for good. Be the light in the heavy.

Is there anything else you want your fans at Southern Fellow to know?
