“Shake the Dust” A Single for the Times from the Highway Women
I have been following the Highway Women for about five months now. They are an all female country group consisting of Heather Harper, Kristen Kae, Amanda Pruitt, and Drew Haley. They all have independent careers, but have come together to form one powerful voice for women everywhere.
I am not going to lie. I have a hard time writing about songs with a strong focus on women. I am a guy after all. I knew the last single of the Highway Women, “God Made Me Right” was truly an anthem to women of all ages. I definitely respect that. I just did not think my perspective would have been the the best one for that song. Fast forward to today and “Shake the Dust” their latest single is an anthem that reaches to me personally, many of you, and my friend Kristen Kae who happens to be part of the Highway Women.
I have spoken with the Highway Women on a few occasions, but Kristen and I talk often and have become pretty good friends. Hopefully good enough that she doesn’t look at me as dust one of these days. LOL “Shake the Dust” made me reflect back on our friendship. The “dust” in our lives was and is always a big topic. We have always try to talk each other into shaking it off. We both have had victories and failures in doing so, just like most of you. Win or lose though, we have each other to keep trying to shake the negatives in our lives and look forward to the future.
That was the power of one Highway Woman in my life. Now you have four. Heather, Amanda, Drew and Kristen have put together a powerful song that is especially needed for today’s world. There is a plethora of things as individuals and as a human race we need to shake to move forward. “Shake the Dust” is the positive reminder to work towards remove all that is bad and look forward to the future one victory at a time.
“Shake the Dust” is a powerful addition to your favorite playlist. All the links you need are down below. I also highly suggest you follow the Highway Women as well. These ladies are doing amazing things and it’s an honor for me to be a of their musical journey.
