Suffering Heartbreak? Taylor Teasley Invites You to “Join the Club”

Are you part of club heartbreak? It’s one membership with little to no benefit. Yet, almost everyone has been a member at some point. We all want to move on from the pain, yet many of us keep returning to the crash scene to try to make sense of it. In many car crashes, the one at fault almost always has an easier time walking away. The same goes for relationships. The new single “Join the Club” from country artist Taylor Teasley gives a glimmer of hope. She reminds us that heartbreak is not a one-member club.

I will be upfront and say that Taylor and I are close friends. I have had a front-row seat to her music career since the beginning. You might read this and write it off as biased, but Taylor will be the first to tell you that I’m honest with her to a fault. If I don’t like something she’ll be the first to know. Now that that’s out of the way, we can get to why I think “Join the Club” is her best single out and sets a high bar for music yet to be released.

“Never Mine”, Taylor’s debut single, was a song I could have written. The single covered my feelings about my relationship at the time almost word for word. However, when Taylor sent me the rough draft of “Join the Club” the emotions almost overwhelmed me. Taylor pulled me into a story that wasn’t my own and dragged me through all the emotions as I lived it. If you have read my previous reviews, you’ll know that I consider that a hallmark of a great country song.

In the beginning, I compared “Join the Club” to a car crash because of a video I saw on the news a few years back. The security camera footage showed an inebriated man plowing into a family’s car. He got out and started walking away not fully aware of the damage and heartache that surrounded him. Once things became clearer, he felt the only solution to avoid the consequences was to leave the scene of the accident. Taylor Teasley’s latest story runs parallel in many ways but is told through the lens of a relationship. In the end, the men in both stories wish things were different, but that doesn’t change the fact that the damage had already been done.

Some other things that make this a great track are that It’s well-produced, and Taylor is getting comfortable with her raspy voice. With all this, Ms. Teasley has set a high bar for herself, and I would be lying if I said reaching it would be easy. The good news is Taylor is a little taller than me. Also, it’s almost Easter, I will leave you with an easter egg. As I mentioned before, “Join the Club” was her best-released song, but I feel she is holding on to a few you might like more.
