“Growing Up is Getting Old” The Best Birthday Gift from Alex Maxwell

Well, it’s my birthday! I would normally not be so upfront about it, but country artists Alex Maxwell along with Joybeth Taylor basically wrote the perfect song for it recently. These two artists have become some of my favorite songwriters and damn it feels like “Growing Up is Getting Old” was written just for me and that’s exactly how a good country song should be.

I recently did a full interview with Alex Maxwell. During the process, it really felt like we were cut from the same cloth. “Growing Up is Getting Old” pretty much solidifies that. At this point in my life, this song feels like a perfectly broken-in pair of boots. A little too old to hide all the scuffs, but enough tread to keep moving ahead. I am at the point in life where the dreams I once had have changed and become greatly simplified,  Yet, at the same time, I feel I am not that old. I can still do what I used to, just maybe a little slower. With that, I am not ready to completely let go of my youth.“

Growing Up is Getting Old” is the perfect song for this point in my life. If you are a friend of mine or over 25, I am sure it will be yours too.
