Datil Pepper BBQ Sauce

This is a fantastic spicy BBQ sauce for beef, chicken or pork. We use this recipe as our signature wing sauce.
Prep Time10 minutes
Cook Time25 minutes
Servings: 2 quarts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup stemmed datil peppers
  • 1 large onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 cups Heinz Ketchup
  • 1 cup mustard
  • 1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
  • 12 oz weight brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/4 fresh lemon juice
  • 3/4 cups butter

Instructions

  • Using a food processor puree the peppers, onion and garlic.
  • In a medium pot melt the butter.
  • add the puree to the butter and increase to medium heat.
  • cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add the remainder of the the ingredients.
  • Lightly simmer for 20 minutes.
  • remove from heat.

Notes

If using a blender add a little vinegar to the peppers before you blend.
