Our interview with

Adam Craig

Wow, here we are in 2019. It is amazing how quickly time passes. Thank you to everyone who spent time reading, following and sharing your personal stories with us in 2018. Each of you can claim ownership to the successes achieved last year. You have propelled this Southern Fellow family into the new year with such energy, that 2019 will produce dreams we have yet to dream up.  Thank you for taking this ride with us.

Speaking of big dreams, our next artist on Feed the Band also has big dreams for 2019. Adam Craig is a guy’s guy, a family guy, and the guy you can call when you need a hand. These qualities are what make this man and  are the foundation used in his songwriting. His music connects to everyday life and the ups and downs we all face. His current single is a great example of this.

“Why Can’t She” is a well written song and is a heartbreaking story of love that is lost. The story is told by the person whose  lies ended the relationship. This point of view drives the heartbreak further. Adam Craig has a fantastic ability to pull you into the story with his dynamic sound and first class songwriting. He is definitely an artist to watch in 2019.

We had the opportunity to speak with Adam for a bit. We talked about music, life and the holidays. What a great guy and a welcomed addition to our Southern Fellow family. Before we get to the interview check out our Redneck Panini he inspired and also look out for that giveaway at the bottom. Let’s get to it. Here is our interview with Adam Craig.

You are a proven songwriter. What advice would you give future writers?

Write what you know. That way it’ll always be honest. Find like minded people, surround yourself with them. And write every single day. At least once a day.

Who are your top 3 influences and how did they shape you as an artist?

Tim McGraw- best songs, best records, amazing show.

Keith Urban- I remember being in the crowd out in Washington when he played. I’d never heard of him. He came out shredding a guitar and I was blown away. I didn’t know that front men played guitar. All my heroes just sang. I left that concert and for the next 3 years all I did was study guitar. KU is the reason I can play and sing.

Eric Church- by the time I’d heard of Church, I was already in Nashville. I was writing and playing and doing what you do to get better.  I remember I was doing a show with Eric out in Bakersfield at Buck Owens place. From the first note to the last I caught it all. The writing was top notch. I still go back to those first 3 or 4 albums and I’m still blown away by them.

If  we were to interview your best friend from high school, what would they say about you?

Hahah. Ask em if ya want. Hahahahaha

They’d say I was crazy as heck to move 3,000 miles away from home… and in the same breath say how proud they are that I did it.

What is your biggest fear?

When something touches my feet when I’m in the water.

We are always developing recipes here at Southern Fellow. When writing music what recipe do you use?

All the good stuff. Hahahah.

What is a New Year’s resolution do you have?

Love God, family, and my girl better. And more fishing.

What is your first fond memory of food?

We used to always go to Ocean Shores when I was a kid. My grandma would make the best s’mores!

If Southern Fellow could develop a recipe for you, what would it be?

Pretty much anything to do with meat. Any kind!

If you wrote a song about food, what would it be about?

BBQ

This could be the first ever! We filled two slices of whole grain bread with pulled pork, bacon, chedder, and our Cowboy Candy. Then we pressed it on the sandwich grill. To garnish it was added some sweet bourbon pickles. Adam is sure going to write a song about this legendary sandwich!

What does the new year look like for you?

New single! New tour! Lots of shows! I can’t wait!

What traditions does your family have during the holidays?

We usually throw a big ugly sweater party a couple days before Christmas Eve. From there on out it’s bouncing around hanging out with family.

Tell us about your single “Why Can’t She”.

It’s a special song to me. It’s a little 80’s ballad mixed with a unique country lyric! I wrote it with Matt Rogers and Jon Nite. I love that I got to sing that song. It’s been a highly requested song for the last few years. I was happy that it got released to all the streaming sites.

You are walking down the street in Nashville and you come across a $100 winning scratch off ticket. What do you spend it on?

I’d have my girl and some friends meet me downtown and drink some drinks. Eat some eats. Ha

Is there anything else you want your fans at Southern Fellow to know?

Just be looking out for the new single around Feb or March. Thank y’all so much for asking me to be a part of this. Happy New Year!
